Festival awards tally highlights Opasquia School dominance
The 1969 festival crowned Opasquia School with multiple trophies across kindergarten to grade levels, including the Lion Ls Shield and School Board Shield. Glee Club led by adult choirs won the Mrs Jane Digby Shield, while Patty Rivalin and Diane Mitchell shared the 7 12 years singing award. Others received various shields for duets, solos, spoken poetry, and piano classes, with special scholarships awarded to Tara Lamb and Michael Carey amid a note of overall festival praise. The Rose Bowl was withheld due to multiple 85 marks, and organizers announced plans for 1970 Manitoba Centennial Year activities and an upcoming annual meeting.
