Road to Beaver Lake to Be Opened at Once
The Lloydminster council met with Mayor Finger and Councillors Stitt Anderson Brown and Carritre. Funds and debentures for Beaver Lake road were discussed with Captain Ross and J. Wanless proposing a 16 mile summer road and a shorter winter route with costs around 40 to 150 dollars per mile. The meeting also considered widening Fischer Avenue, sewer outlet extensions, and securing government grants for public works plus changes to scavenger tax collection. The council deferred heavy action until word from Hon. Armstrong and government replies.

False Pretences Collette Sentenced for Fraud
Collette was sentenced on February 26 to six months imprisonment for obtaining money under false pretences. He had been sent north with money and provisions to locate a missing party sent out last December by Mr. Robinson. Collette returned after being shot at and claimed no trace of the missing party, thinking the surveyors had perished. The lost party arrived February 22, and Rebben, the tamper, faced scrutiny as rumors swirled about a suspected cave-in during the search.

The Sankey song service at Dreamland theatre by the Methodist Congregation drew a very large attendance last Sunday evening. Despite rain many strangers joined in singing Sankey’s hymns including Ninety and Nine and Wandering Boy. The choir also performed The Battle Hymn of the Republic with strong wartime spirit. An evening address discussed Hymnology of the Early Divisional Church. A duet by Suddy and Masterson and a solo by H. Masterson enhanced the event.
