Doreen Sanderson and Ronald Buck of Brandon University Northern Teacher Education Program publish It Was Easy Yet It Was Hard documenting Moose Lake elders reflections to aid Native Studies teaching. The 44 page Cree English booklet features interviews with seventeen elders and aims to boost identity and northern educational relevance.

Assault at Sunset Beach Leaves Tourist Hospitalized
A tourist and two others were assaulted by six unknown assailants at Sunset Beach Clearwater Lake. A tire wrench and a chain were used, two Constant brothers were hospitalized, and no arrests were reported. The incident occurred last weekend with no evident motive given.

Sixteen year old M B C L Grade eleven student Kelly McLaughlin was chosen as one of ten Canadians to represent the country at an International Youth Camp in Scotland this summer. He will spend one month abroad as a guest of the government, joining tours of Scottish landmarks including Loch Ness. Lucky Arnold the piglet and the protective poodle mother

Snowmobile Safety Award Given to Mr. Nerbas in The Pas
In a brief ceremony at the LaVerendrye Motel last week Ben Nerbas of The Pas received a Special Certificate of Commendation for his work in the Snowmobile Safety Program. Manitoba Minister Peter Burtniak signed the award and Hubert Masnam presented it. Nerbas has taught the program there for four winters and joined after reading about it in the CAA magazine. He called the course a common sense program focusing on snowmobile law.
