Close Call At Forestry Complex The Pas
Smoke rose from a hog feed pile fire at The Pas Forestry Complex last week. Two The Pas fire trucks attended Wednesday as the blaze burned atop the pile for hours. Fires had smoldered beneath for years. a strong wind and hot day spread small fires across the surface. The Pas Volunteer brigade fought the flames, arriving at 4 15 p m after threats to the debarking building. Conveyor belts feeding the hog pile burned and other equipment was damaged while sparks reached the debarker building but were controlled. Up to four small fires were put out on the hot humid day. No damage estimate was released.
