The Pas Rotary Club hosts a February festival night at The Pas Arena with a jam of contests and prizes. Highlights include fiddling and jigging finals, dog race, tug of war, beard growing, and the grand draw for festival tickets with a top prize of $1,000 and $500 for runner up.
Prize amounts listed for the open obstacle course race include 1st prize of 30.00 and a trophy and 2nd prize of 20.00 with 3rd prize 10.00. Contestants face a two lap course with a closed lap and one obstacle lap at 2:00 p.m. Those under 16 require parental consent and a trophy is provided by Kelsey Trail Esso.
Friday features a 25 mile cross country race with four categories offering prizes from 5 to 40 dollars plus trophies and driver age restrictions. A 5 lap powder puff derby for ladies follows, with parental consent required for under 16. Saturday hosts a Texaco 50 mile marathon with multiple prize tiers and trophies for best overall driver and best sportsman, detailing course routes from Halcrow Lake to The Pas and beyond.
