The Manitoba Centennial Corporation awarded The Pas Trap Players Festival a $1000 grant. Maitland Steinkopf, the corporation chair, informed Orest Pidskainy of the festival committee of the funding last week. The grant will support the stage show and is seen as a big help for the event. John Flett, who set an 800 pound flour packing record last year, watches Mary Ann Lathlin pack 350 pounds in 1969 and plans to push for a 1000 pound mark this year.

Mayor Bills Town for Winnipeg Ottawa Trip Costs

The town approved a bill of 303.65 to cover part of Mayor Harry Trager's Winnipeg hotel and Ottawa trip expenses. The payment, approved at last week's meeting, follows news dispatches that he paid his own way to Ottawa to seek aid for The Pas. Finance chair Vern Bernstrom said the Ottawa visit was authorized in Winnipeg by Councillors Audrey Batchelor and Russ Tawse, with Council backing the payment.
