Safety Committee reports traffic and school safety issues
A twelve member Special Student Safety Committee appointed by The Pas Town Council on November 17 1971 studied school safety programs student traffic crosswalks bicycle safety and an overall plan. It documented inadequate traffic signs snow removal sidewalks and crossing problems and urged CN rail fencing patrols and closer CN cooperation with 8:30 9:00 a.m. pedestrian traffic and safety education.

Safety talk and rails safety film shown to The Pas students
In May 1969 CN constable presented a fifteen minute safety film from the Association of American Railroads, booklets, a display of dangerous articles, and a ten minute lecture to students up to Grade 8 in all public schools in The Pas and Flin Flon. A sheltered overpass at Second, Third and Seventh Street crossings is a long term priority with cost potentially shared by CNR, the Town, Kelsey School Division and federal or Manitoba governments. Recommendations to the Kelsey School Board note lighting plans discussed with Manitoba Hydro.
