Calvert Wins Third Straight In Prince George Sled Race
John Calvert, the three time world champion musher from The Pas, captured both heats of the Pacific Northwest Sled Dog Championship in Prince George B C January 24 and 25. He endured dog injuries and ran Sunday with only five dogs. Ricky Sinclair of Prince Albert finished 28 seconds behind on day one and 7 minutes 22 seconds behind on day two. Raymond Cook of Hazel Dell Saskatchewan placed third.

Accident continues as truck driver McGillivary linked to Winnipeg firm
Police report the truck driver McGillivary, owner Kley sons Cartage of Winnipeg, caused a car to veer into the highway center and sidesweep a northbound 1967 Pontiac driven by Charlie McKinnon of Wanless. Three McKinnon passengers unharmed as the car flipped and burst into flames.
Car Fire Fatalities Prompt Inquest And Investigation
Firefighters freed one man from the Pontiac before the interior burned. Two other men suffered burn injuries. The car ended in a ditch with about $400,000 damage to the driver side. Police and Dr Tempton said the investigation will take time and an inquest will follow.
