River House aids Manitoba women alcoholics at Winnipeg centre
River House, Manitoba’s first women-only treatment centre, cares for about 340 women since opening two years ago. Roughly 100 have recovered, with rural Manitobans accounting for about a quarter. The program combines counseling, psychiatry, pastoral care, and daily meetings in a home-like setting with free treatment funded by the province and private donations.
