The note invites couples to bring one dozen dainties for the Jamboree and praises Valley Dancers for lunch support. Arctic char will be featured along with moose, smoked fish, and bannock. Pack dancing in Nor-Lite Hall is planned as a lead up to the big day.
At the dinner meeting a letter thanked the club for a 100 donation to Salvation Army hampers. A request for pool cost info was noted as the club took over operations. A Jail on Wheels float was discussed for the Festival parade with $1 fines for escape. Lions members attended Zone meetings and Bonspiel in Lynn Lake.
The Kinsmen Club of The Pas held a January 27 dinner meeting at Nor-Lite Hall with 22 members and one guest. Prominent actions included planning for the Spring Zone Meeting in Thompson February 19–20, an upcoming bonspiel, recreation director talks, tug-of-war volunteers for the festival, and progress on the World Championship Dog Derby.
The January branch meeting discussed the Legions Centennial Project aiming for one million dollars. The branch pledges $1200 with each member assessed $2.00 to reach about $600, covered by events like bingo and raffles. Dues and Centennial Fund payments are due to Comrade McEwan or the Legion Steward. Members wish well to two hospitalized Auxiliary members and invite attendees to the club.
Lawrence Whitehead outlines 1966 goals to bridge white and Indian societies at The Pas Friendship Centre. The board launches a vigorous pre year campaign to acquaint The Pas and district with Centre concerns, gaining strong public response and new volunteers.
The Centre expands its activities with a Public Relations Committee relaunching The Birch Bark Mail January edition. Local businessmen will sell copies to broaden circulation as a Fund raising Committee tackles ongoing financing challenges.
