Ecumenical Conference At Cross Lake Gathers Faith Leaders
History was made at Cross Lake Manitoba during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity as Anglican, Catholic and United Church clergy held the first Ecumenical Conference in the north. Delegates from Indian communities traveled up to 200 miles by Bombardier or plane to attend the two day event at the RC Residential School. The opening session featured Bishop Dumouchel on Vatican II and a spirit of openness and brotherhood guided the dialogue on ecumenism education and the churchs unity.
