Christmas Start Of Sawmill At The Pas Marks New Era

The Hon. Jack Carroll and Manitoba officials note the staged opening of Churchill Forest Industries at The Pas as a Christmas present with further plant completions planned. The project has faced earlier delays since its 1966 announcement but is now underway with timber ready and a Liason Committee formed to map future forestry development in The Pas. The 18 December 1968 ceremony is seen as a turning point toward a major pulp mill operation expected to be in operation by March 1971.
