Snowmobilers Involved In Accidents On Canadian Rail Lines
CN Police special agent Ralph Struve warns snowmobiles on railway tracks are a serious hazard. Five riders were involved in last week’s accidents on the Chisel Lake and Sherridan subdivisions near Cranberry Portage, with one rider Don Dixon injured. Trains cannot always stop quickly, especially from behind, and fatal incidents are possible. CN cites prior year fatalities and damage, notes track packing and wheel flattening from emergency stops, and says five people will be charged with trespassing under a $100 fine.
