The writer extols Western Canadian hospitality claiming it surpasses Eastern forms in warmth and inclusiveness. Personal thanks are extended to The Pas community, the Vocational school staff and students, and the Husky hockey team and its officers for support during the stay.
Prizes will honor best floats in multiple classifications during celebrations. The Pas Centennial events include a birth announcement for Bernard Cox at 2 PM, presentations to seniors at 4 PM, Fallen Angels performances at 5 PM and 8 PM, a fashion show at 2 PM, a Ukrainian open air supper at 5 PM, and a late night dance at Devon Park with music. Sponsored by The Pas Centennial Committee and The Pas Centennial Youth Group.
In case of rain the Dance moves to Elk's Hall. At 11:00 P.M. Friday the Legion sponsors a fireworks display across the river from Devon Park. Best viewing will be on The Pas side of the river.
Elk's Hall hosts three day Centennial events with hours noon to eight. The Passinettes run an old fashioned ice-cream parlor at Opasquia School grounds during the Confederation Caravan. The Rebekahs Eastern Star and Royal Purple co sponsor a daily tea 2 to 5 with a local art display showcased through the afternoons.
John Gleadle arranges a display at the Headquarters site with Kerr's Furs sponsored handi craft. An Air Cadet display and a Centennial Historical Tableau of The Pas will grace the exhibit, echoing the 1962 Golden Anniversary celebration. Local church women’s groups sponsor the event.
