Earliest float flight route marks new bush operation
Dennis Lamb ordered Roy Boyes to ready an Otter for a vital float flight after a patient was treated by Constable Pilote and Jim Cumming at Pond. The search team tracked the plane by radar 170 miles across Baffin Bay as the single engine craft journeyed from Pond Inlet toward Thule, Greenland, under Royal Canadian Mounted Police and US Air Force observation. The mission linked Pond Inlet, Thule, and Canadian Archipelago in a historic aviation feat while Simonnee recovered from medical care.
