New births listed for April across communities including South Indian Lake The Pas Reserve Lynn Lake Split Lake The Pas Shamattawa Mile 151 HB Ring and ShamattaWa. Children born are three girls and two boys with parents named in each entry.
A CWL general meeting at the Guy Wall on April 11 elected a new executive for the coming year led by Past-President Mary Polony and President Valerie King. The event noted plant year end reports and announced a Centennial Spring Tea with tickets available from Nellie Sabanski. A Feast of Our Lady of Good Council Mass on April 26 at 8 PM will precede a Hall gathering with Ukrainian CWL members as guests.
The Pas Ladies Curling Club held an April 17 pot luck supper followed by a general meeting. Jenny King was elected president with Helen Alm as vice president and Jeanette Jackson as Past President. Other officers include Wanitta Stewart as treasurer and Alice Smith as secretary. Prizes for the closed Bonspiel were awarded, listing winners for Event 1 and Door Prizes.
The Pas Kinsmen Club held its bi monthly gathering on April 13 at New Lite Hall. Congratulations were extended to the Kinettes for the Centennial Ball and to new members D Kickack and R Falk. Initiation night is set for Thursday and Easter Seals Campaign thanks are noted along with a call for further donations to Kin Jack.
A date list outlines upcoming Kin events with meetings and elections. May 11 marks election of officers while May 21 hosts a mixed meeting. April 27 announces the next gathering and the district convention to be held in Kenora.
Our meeting began with Mrs. Goldstrand and our lieutenant taking inspection. After inspection we formed a horse-shoe then played a game. We then were dismissed to work-corners. After work corners we played on deck. We then formed a horse-shoe and were given seven centennial flags each to sell. We then gang taps am were dismissed. Girls remember to bring your flag money in.
The last regular club dance of the season drew more than two squares with many returning to old figures. Dancers recalled Running Bear and joked about odd routes from the south to Flin Flon, still enjoying the evening.
Next week features a square dance jamboree at 8 in NorLite Hall with Norm Holmes as caller. It includes a trophy dance with prizes for best costume and the couple traveling farthest. The event celebrates a centennial dance and hopes to send the Clapton Clipper on its voyage again.
