A Toronto Dominion Bank plan introduces 4.5 percent interest on Premium Savings, calculated on minimum quarterly balance and paid semi annually. Depositors moving to Premium Savings by July 15 gain May 1 rates. Personal Chequing gets no charge personalized cheques and slips, plus 30 day statements.
William F. Humphreys is appointed branch manager sales for Canadian National Railways at Moose Jaw. The Winnipeg native joined CN in 1946 and has held key freight sales roles in Winnipeg Regina Calgary and The Pas before this promotion succeeding C P Martin.
The festival reports gross earnings of 1819.23 with donations of 3000.00 and investment income of 324.12. Expenses total 3846.18 yielding a net 1297.17. Extra revenue from booklet 2239.00 and events 2811.47 plus other shows. Grants from Labatt’s Manitoba government Indian Affairs and Welfare support the festival activities.
The event raised $1200 with $1000 in ads. A $135 donation supported the Game and Fish Association's junior rifle club reorganization. Proceeds went to the Arena fund, prompting the Elk’s to cancel hall rental for the annual meeting.
