Snowstorm Dumps 25 cm In Pas Region Across Manitoba
The Pas weather office reports 25 cm of snow from last Friday's storm, with March totaling about 38 cm and 84.4 cm from November through February. The system stretched from north of Flin Flon to Ontario, with rain in the Dauphin area and thunderstorms near Winnipeg. Highway 10 from Swan River to Flin Flon was closed for zero visibility, and Highway 6 north of Grand Rapids was shut. Town seeks special recreation grant for The Pas

Dairy Pioneers Narrate Early Saskeram River Farm Life
Nazaire Frechette from Quebec came in 1916 to a Saskatchewan lease near Saskeram Lake with two cows producing six quarts daily. He built a $14 house on Carrot River, moved to LaRose Ave as floods hit, then expanded to ten cows by 1917. Augustine joined, raised nine children, did books, and delivered milk daily without refrigeration. By 1924 city residents tired of the dairy presence and the Frechettes moved on.

Dairy legacy from a Saskeram house to modern cartons
Augustine recalls Nazaire Frechette starting a dairy on the old horse trail. A log cabin dairy grew to a 105 cow barn and brick house by 1930. Hard times, war years, and a TB scare led to selling in 1952 and 1955 buyback by Marcell and John Frechette, later sold to Modern Dairies in 1963.
