Oxbow observed a Methodist Week with Sunday and Monday events. Rev A E Davis of Estevan gave talks on war and its impact on people. A Sunday school address covered the "Success of Failures." A large crowd attended the big fowl supper and Swiss Bell Ringers entertainments.
A half tone portrait and世story salute James Matthews Acton's postmaster of sixty years. Born 1835 in Pilkington township he joined the post office in 1855 and witnessed Canada’s early stamp era. He introduced coal oil lamps and sewing machines to Acton in the 1870s. Mrs J H Melvin of South Portal visits Merrell family in town.

European powers fear wartime death and peacetime labor shortages and push marriage among soldiers. Germany and Austria waive fees and hold mass ceremonies while England urges recruits to marry. Bishops cut marriage licence fees and clergy waive charges to preserve population. In England nearly 500000 troops occupy camps and weddings occur daily. Oxbow wheat market remains firm with local buyers paying up to 1.08 dollars per bushel this week.
The Enniskillen council, meeting at King Edward Hall Oxbow, discusses a petition to repeal the Hail Insurance Act. The petition lacks required signatures, but ratepayers seek a vote at the December election. Solicitor advises repeal by law requires 25 percent resident ratepayer support. Councillors set dates and officers for the December election and designate polling booths.
