A grand patriotic meeting is planned at King Edward Hall Oxbow tomorrow Friday March 24 after the Provincial Red Cross society. Col Edgar and Mr McCallum will speak about the organization and its work.
George A. Maitland died in Seattle on March 1 in his fifty fourth year. The funeral was set for March 16 in Seattle. He was an Oxbow district pioneer born in Lanark County Ontario and arrived in Winnipeg in 1881. He later moved west with his brother J P Mallalee, a noted land patentee in township 3, range 1, west of the second Meridian. Maitland left the district in 1891 for the United States, worked on the Northern Pacific, then started his own business and retained valuable local farm property. Survived by a widow four brothers and two sisters he belonged to the Masonic order and held high lodge offices in Idaho. Next, Robt Callin learned of his brother William A Callin's death near Lawson Sask last week.

Mr Callin died suddenly in the Oxbow district after returning to his homestead from an extended visit with relatives. He leaves an aged mother and two sisters, one in this district, Mrs Eli Hames, and another in Chicago, with his passing mourned by the Canadian Order of Foresters to which he belonged.
A pretty wedding occurred at the home of Mr and Mrs Albert Johnston in the Oxbow district on Tuesday this week. The bride wore white and a wedding breakfast followed. The couple plan to move to Tompkins Sask after a short stay. Linnie Wiggins will join Henry Wilk's barber shop as a trainee barber.
