The past week saw George W Wylie of Wood and Walle set up two Lake tanks west of the Oxbow Farmers Elevator. They store coal oil and gasoline with a combined capacity of 20 000 gallons. A local company is forming and will hold a shareholders meeting to outline policy and other business.
A harvest scene in the Oxbow district notes oil tanks being installed to ship fuel by tank cars from refineries, promising wholesale prices for heavy oil users and gas buyers in town. Mr. Wylie also pushes similar tank projects at Frobisher, Wilmar, and Griswald to improve trade and price competitiveness.
An official report says the Russian navy defeated the German fleet in the Gulf of Riga. The Germans lost the battleship Moltke three cruisers and seven torpedo boats near the east shore. Four barges with soldiers took part but were driven back by Russian forces.
