Ox Bow Heroes Remembered From Winnipeg to France
A WWI remembrance recounts Merrell enlisting from Ox bow at Winnipeg in 1914 with the Port Garry Horee. After training at Valcartier and service in England and France, he was wounded at Cambrai on December 8 1917 while leading a bridge explosion. His unit faced hard front conditions as Canada and allies fought, with others from the contingent enduring the great struggle.
