Farmers are asked to mend rabbits and send them to town starting July 1 as the sound rabbits will be accepted. The Mutual Life and Citizens’ Assurance Co. Ltd in Melbourne quotes best prices and urges early cheque by return mail, with work to begin in July at Ouyen Victoria.
The event saw a good attendance with council vacancies filled by nonattendance. Elected were Messrs. Jack, J. McDonald, G. W. Val and McGregor. A program of events for the lsof £ 60 was planned with a pub booth invitation and involvement from local ladies.
Friday farewell event for Mr Ruy Larmour, postal official called to front. W A Ritchie presided as Miss MGregor and Miss Leach performed. Guests presented Larmour with three silver wristlet watches and inscribed keepsakes. Presbyterian Church gave a wristwatch as he departs for camp. Post office staff presented a fountain pen with knife, fork, and spoon. Extra items delayed due to rush of late advertisements.
Attendance was strong with President Pickering presiding. New committee members were added and several donors pledged prizes summing substantial amounts. The group discussed ground fencing, finances, and proposed trustees and a finance committee to secure overdraft, with offers of posts and wire ready for fencing work.
An explanation was given for a remark about Mr Jas Swane and he accepted. The committee will reconvene Saturday afternoon at 23 sharp to finalise and approve the prize schedule and arrange special prize inclusion. A misprint credited a prize to F Pickering. it should read G Pickering.
J G Nitschke writes to readers about a council minute not entered in the MAL noting a proposed hotel at Ouyen and a Licencing Board hearing on March 13 1918. He protests against granting a licence for any building on the eastern side of the railway line and questions council unity and voting.
