JITGHISON IS HOST TOAFRICAN M. E. MINISTERSFrom Thursday’s Dally.Atchison Is host to a group of clergymen of the Nebraska conference of the ■ African Methodist Episcopal church, now meeting In Its sixth annual session at the A. M. E. church. Eighth and Atchison streets, with Bishop John A. Oregg, A. M . D. D„ presiding. More than 120 churchmen are in attendance from the state of Nebraska and a part of Kansas, Including Kansas City, Leavenworth. and Atchison.Reports of various committees and pastors of the conference are occupying most of the session today. This evening a missionary program will be presented. The conference will adjourn Sunday night when Bishop Oregg will read the assignments of ministers for the coming year, an event of annual Importance in the A. M. E. church.The principal feature of the session yesterday was the annual address of Bishop Oregg, who Is episcopal supervisor of six conferences comprising a territory of Arizona. Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas. Stressing evangelism as the particular work of the ministry, Bishop Oregg said:“The whole world seems pleasure bent, and It is the duty of God's ministers to present the Joys and riches and rewards of faithfulness to Him, so that they will draw the world from the pleasures of sin for a season, to the present and eternal joys of Christian service.” Another statement was, “I hold that a minister who serves a congregation for a whole year, and cannot report an ingathering of souls and an Increase in the flock of Christ, Is as j much a failure as he who does not bring In a good financial report.”Strongly insisting on prohibition and general law enforcement Bishop Gregg urged. Prohibition is written In the statutes of our nation as one of Its primary laws, and it Is therefore obligatory upon every minister of the Gospel to be the most law-abiding citizen, and to do everything possible for its enforcement.”Devotional services yesterday were i conducted by Bishop Gregg, assisted by !; the presiding elders. G. Porter, principal of Lincoln public school; and Miss Elizabeth Wamell. Solos were rendered by Mrs O. Kerford and Mrs. Carrie Kerford. The Rev. John Quincy Adams of Lincoln, Nebr., responded in .
