The Winters City Council within the past week received word that there is a possibility that the railroad depot of Abi lene Southern Railroad will be closed in the near future. Council immediately began a study of that possibility, and the effects, if any, such a closing would have upon this communi ty. It was pointed out by City of ficials that the possible closing of the depot would not mean that the railroad itself would be discontinued. Trains would con tinue to operate, they said, with local shippers being provided di rect contact lines with Abilene regarding allocation of box cars and freight movement. J. C.
