‘Tension in Europe, over the attitude of Germany on the Czechoslovakian situation, has not died down to any great degree since the closing of the Nazi Con gress on Monday at Nuremberg. It is the efforts of England that directly pute Hitler on his mettle. Dealing with the German dictator directly in a more surer way of reaching a settlement. In 1914 Sir Edward Grey did not seek concilia tion by that method and the Ger manya did not know really where England stood. Today, as the perg advise, England is trying the fast remedy by getting in touch with the German leader, who, it is felt, holds the key to the situation in Central Europe. There are reasons for internal tangles, be cause of the ecclesiastical situation in which the state has over-ridden the Church and made laws which puts the Third Reich supreme; and according to observers, the financial strain, the internal morale of the people, economic problems, puts Hitler up against a big job; with sixty five millions of people in the hands of one meat and his few associates. . Prime Minister Chamberlain's peace mission flight to Germany on Thursday is the last card Eng land is likely to play. It will now be up to the German Dictator whether or not there will be a war in Central Europe, the extension of which may involve many nations and also bring in the youth of a new generation for the scrap heap to the perplexity and strife, revelry and commotion with dis order in many lands. If the British Prime Minister can hold it off he will receive many congratulations.
