The community was very deeply grieved Wednesday morning when it was announced that John D Johnson, well known business man, was in the DeMoss hospital suffer ing from a stroke which overtook him as he was walking to his home near the airport About 10 o'clock Tuesday even ing, John was talking to a brother Knight of Pythias, C. A. Conner, in the Lordsburg Cafe and John was telling him that he should have at tended lodge that night, but for some reason he failed to do 40 soon after that he started to his home and when he was in the vicinity of the former Dr. Crocker home, where David Capps now lives, he suffered a stroke that ren dered him helpless, he could how ever call for help and when Mr Capps went to his rescue he was lying across the side walk, he asked to be taken to the DeMoss hospit al, where he soon lapsed into un consciousness and passed away the following day. The funeral will be held at the Heather Funeral Home, under the auspices of the Lordsburg Knights of Pythias. Rev. Bryan Hall, a brother Knight, will deliver the sermon. The brother Knights will have chage of the bur ial in Mountain Viewcem . Knight Johnson was born in Greece 47 years ago, coming to the United States and locating in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1809. In 1911, he and his faithful cousin and companion since childhood, Joan A. Johnson, conducted a res taurant in Douglas, Arizona, for several years, coming to Lordsburg and opening the Lordsburg Cafe, in 1928. The Johnsons have just opened the new Malted Milk Shop, which is one of the finest of its kind in the state. Joan Xanalatos, a cousin on his mother’s side, arrived from Los Angeles Thursday to attend the funeral. The leading business houses will be closed in memory of the deceas ed from 4:30 to 5:30 this afternoon.
