INSTANTLY KILLEDMiner in the Windermere Country Struck by a Boulder.Windermere, Sept. IS.—Joseph Metts, an old Idaho miner, was in* stnatly killed at the Silver Thread mine, owned by the Fraser Chambers Syndicate, Saturday evening about six o'clock. Metts was gathering up some tools at the mouth of the tunnel when a boulder came down the mountain side striking him on the head, death was instantaneous. It appears thatMetts saw the boulder coming and ducked his head hut not for enough. He and his partner,Owen Jackson,came into the Windermere camp early last Spring and prropected on Number Two creek for two months or more. Jackson returned to Spokane some five weeks ago shortly after Metts went to work at tne Silver Thread mine. Joe was very popular among the boys in general through out the district. The interment tookplace 011 Monday thelltn instant attne Windermere cemetery.
