R. Swal-lum are Among the Losers.LOSS ESTIMATED AT $10,000.About 11 o'clock last Friday night the town of Hubbard was aroused by an alarm of fire. An unoccupied building on the south side of Main street belonging to Mr. Brenuecke wasburning and the fire bad already taken such a start that it could not be stopped till it had expended its fury on all the adjoining buildings, which were all built of wood.George and Ernest Brenuecke used an upper room of the building, which first took fire, as a sleeping room. When they awoke the stairway was on fire, and they escaped by climbing through a window onto the roof ofthe next building. The whole town was out in a few minutes, every one anxious to do something to save property from des truction. The hose team did nobly with such facilities as they had, but the ilames kept leaping from one roof to auother, in spite of all they could do. Mr. Brennecke owned two buildings, adjoining, which were the first to burn. In one of them was his meat market, which was well equipped, and from which he saved nothing but his books. The Ellsworth store building was the next to the east, occupied by Mr, Knight with a mixed stock. The guods were all removed but the hardware. The postoffice building was the next, and the flames took it, but the new adjustible furniture was saved.Separate from the postoffice by a narrow alley was the Nichols store. And the fight to prevent the fire crossing this alley was a desperate one. Several times the building was burn ing, but the constant stream of water that was kept playing upon it finally saved it, and destruction went no farther east than the alley. On the west of Brennecke's the Utterback building, occupied as a dwelling, could not be saved, and but little was saved of the household goods within.Back of the posfcoffice, in a small Dut building Mr. Flagler had stored a lot of flour, which was a total loss.Following are the estimated losses:Will Yan Patter, meat market fixtures, §250, no insurance; C.
