On Wednesday October 13, at 10 o'clock occured the death of Mrs. Amos Agate.Before her marriage Mrs. Agate was Mias Sarah Ann Nichols, She was born in Yorkshire England, Oct. 23. 1845, and came to America in 1850 at the age of five. Her parents settled at Orlond, 111., where she was educated graduating from the old Cook County Normal School.She taught school for a few years and on November 15th, 1876 was married to Amos Agate. In the fall of 1877 the couple moved to Indiana locating on a farm three miles north and three miles east of Brook where they lived until 2904,In the winter of 1904 they moved to Brook, Ind., where they remained until Mrs. Agat’s death Wednesday.Mrs. Agate hod always enjoyed the best of health until about threemonths since, when a tumor devel-#oped and she went to Wesley hospital for an operation. In spite of her years she underwent the operation successfully hut the tumor proved to he oj a malignant type and she*regained her health for only a few short weeks.At the time of her death Mrs. Agate was 74 years, 11 months and 23 days old. She leaves her husband, Amos Agate and two sons, i Ralph Holden Agate of Lafayette, Louisiana, Lester William Agate of Brook, Indiana .three grand-ebidren and hosts of loving friends to mourn her loss. ,Mrs. Agate early In life became a member of the Methodist Church. She followed Its teachings constant-! ly and died with an abiding faith in; the Great Creator. She told her! friends that all was well with hre and passed away with a happyv peace ful smile.
