There is at leats one farmer in Weld county who will this year count ‘dry farming’’ a success. That is BE. B. Mayfield, one of the old residents near Fort Lupton. Mr Mayfield this year raised’ 178 acres of corn, four miles from Fort Lupton, the crop running an average of 40 bushels to the here. “The corn is of a good grade, fully matured. The crop was grown without a drop of ir rigation. Really Mr. Mayfield kil led two birds with one stone, first demonstrating that a fair crop can be grown without irrigation and second, that corn can be grown in Colorado.
