Mrs. F. Dafoe and family left for Saskatoon during the week to visit her parents before per manently taking up her resi dence in Prince Albert. A gang of five men has arriv ed here to construct the new station, which they expect to have completed some time in November. Mrs. William Hueston and her daughter were visitors at the home of Mr. R. Rasmussen last week. Much regret was felt by the people of this district on learn ing of the death of H. Newman of Melfort. Mr. Newman was at one time a resident of this district and was held in high es teem by all. Mrs. R. G. Mann returned from Lady Minto hospital at Melfort where she was taking care of her daughter who under went an operation for appendi citis. We are glad to relate that the patient is doing well. A. McMichael is having an addition built to his house on his Beatty farm. J. Pearson Co. have the contract and the North Canada Co. is supplying the material. J. H. Lofstrom has purchased a Titan 15-30 tractor from the LH. C. agent at Beatty. Mc Fayden, the L. H. C. expert de livered the outfit to him last week. A. Johnson, with his brother Gus, took a hurried trip to Saskatoon for some repairs for their new threshing outfit. On account of the great short pointed Canada lumber yard at this point, Mr. C. Poole motored to P. A. last Sunday in company with F. Dafoe. J. Gherman and family, of Melfort, were visitors at the home of Mr. R. Nacht on Sun day. John McGee, superintendent of the Canada West Grain Co. was a business visitor to Beatty during the week. Wm. Herod is trying to re lieve water shortage by bor ing a number of wells in the dis trict. The date of the box social and dance has been finally fixed for Friday night, October 25th. By this time threshing will be com pleted and the boys and girls can enjoy themselves better af ter their strenuous exertion of the busy season. Miss Annie Holmberg, who has been under treatment at one of the Prince Albert hospit al Serene Scene at Oct. Ith. _Mr. Frank, Dafoe has been promoted by the North Canada Lumber Co. to take charge of their largest yards, at Prince Al bert. Much regret is felt at his departure from Beatty, as he was one of the old time resi dents of this district. He was a keen business man, and, al though he always looked after the interests of his firm, still he ‘always gave his customers an l square deal. In social circles Frank is best described as a good sport. We all wish him uch success in the position he has obtained.
