Mr. Hudson and a friend went outside the cabin and were wait* for the others who were inside. Mr. Chapman, who whs getting his rifle ready, by some means or other unfortunately let the hammer slip, censing the contents to be discharged, going through a three inch plank, and Mr. Hudson, who was standing with his companion a few yards away received the contents of the the rifle, the bullet entering under his left ear and owning in the same position on the opposite side.His companion, who was standing along side of him outside the c^bin was pointing out where the game wse likely to le, with his head over tfce disceased’s shoulder received several splinters from the wood where tfie bullet went through, (the splinters sticking in his face) the ballet barely missing him, and killing Mr. Hudson outright.The deceased gentleman came here from Prescott, Arizona, some three months ago. We are informed it was twenty years since he had seen any of his relatives. Mr. Hudson leaves a wife and three brothers to mourn his loss, namely:—Thos. Hudson, of Union Bay; Walter Hudson, of this city; and Joseph Hudson, ofV encouver.Ou Sunday morning an inquest was held on the body, tho vordict being that the deceased came to his death through the accidental discharge of aritle bullet; Mr. Chapman being ex-ehonerated from all blame.The funeral took place on last Wednesday, October 4th, at three p. m, from the residence of Mrs. Walter Hudson, Penrith Avenue, the Rev.H. Laffere of Holy Trinity Church officiating.The remains were escorted to thr grave by the Fraternal Order of Eagles, of which Order the late Mr. Hudson was a member.Tho Rev. Mr. Laffere performed the burial service at the grave and was succeeded by the Eagles ceremony, who, in a few well chosen remarks, through the Master of Ceremonies, paid the last tribute to their departadbrother.The deceased was 38 years of age anti was laid beside his sister-in-law Mrs. Joseph Hudson, who died a couple of months ago.The following gentlemen aotnd aspallliearcrs:—Messrs D.
