Criminal, Inspectors Hanscom, Watts and Lynch of the central office, Thursday afternoon, arrested Dr. A. W. K. Newton of No. 630 tremont street, on a war rant charging him with complicity in the Western Sea swindle, perpetrated @ome*months since on Daniel Goodnow of No. 91 Commercial street. It is alleged that Dr. Newton was the pretended agent of the Pepperell mills; that he in company with Gard ner A. Fulter, the main conspirator, went with Mr. Goodnow to inspect the cotton which was stored at a warehouse on Fulton street, and also several times at Goodnow’s, No. 91 Commercial street. Dr. Newton acknowledged his acquaintance with Fuller, and says that the latter is one of his patients, and that he became acquainted with Goodnow at his office,as Fuller he supposed was Goodnow’s partner. During his investigation of the case inspector Watts has ascertained that Fuller, representing himself as Goodnew’s partner, ob tained 45 bales of cotton from one John Hancock of East Boston, which he shipped to New York and had sold there for from $600 to $700.
