RINCESS Christian of Schleswig- Holstein and her daughter, Princess Victoria, were present on Monday afternoon at the inauguration of the new International Hospital β€˜at Venice which has been founded principally through the initiative of Lady Layard, supported by the generosity of leading members of the British and foreign com munities here. The Prefect of Venice and the British, German, Austrian, and Swedish Consuls attended the ceremony. Mr. Novatio Brown, president of the Hospital committee, made a speech in which he explained that the main object of the Institution was to enable sick seamen to be attended by persons speaking their own language. Mr. Brown expressed his gratitude to Princess Christian for graciously consenting to become the patron of the Hospital. The Princess, in replying, thanked Lady Layard for her generous efforts and wished the Hospital every success. Her Royal Highness then declared the building open.
