Obituary of Lieut.-Col Gascoigne at Betchworth
Lieut.-Col Gascoigne elder son of the late Gen Ernest Frederick Gascoigne born 1835 joined the Grenadier Guards in 1854 served in the Crimea and Sevastopol medal with clasp Turkish medal married Frances Charlotte in 1864 and leaves five children. A long time board member and trustee of the British Home and Hospital for Incurables he supported the charity until his death. Funeral held at Betchworth on Wednesday.

Father Wehinger Founder of Mandalay Leper Asylum Dies
Father Wehinger head of St. John's Leper Asylum Mandalay died there on Sept 6 from malarial fever. Born in Austria he devoted years to leprosy work in Burma traveling 1896 1899 across Europe meeting specialists and gathering funds. He earned Kaiseri Hund medal and high praise from Lord Curzon who opened new wards in 1901.

Princess Christian Opens Venice Seamen's Hospital
Princess Christian of Schleswig Holstein and her daughter Princess Victoria attended the inauguration of Venice's International Hospital for seamen. The ceremony, led by Hospital committee president Mr Novatio Brown, highlighted multilingual care for sailors. The prefect and consuls from Britain Germany Austria and Sweden were present. Princess Christian became patron and declared the building open.
