Mrs. Springer DeadMrs. Sarah Springer, mother of Herbert Veach, died at her home on East street last Thursday evening afer a prolonged illnesss. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church at Springport Sunday, Rev. Anderson officiating, and burial was at that place.Sarah Shipley Springer, wife of John Springer, was born July 31, 1S44 on a farm four miles south-east of Pendleton, Indiana, and departed this life Nov. 15, 1923, aged 79 years, 3months and 15 days.She -was the daughter of Thomas and Eliza Shipley. To young and old , alike, she was “Aunt Sallie,” and this alone shows how highly she was esteemed by those who knew her.In 1872 she was united, iji marriage to Jeremiah Veach. To this union were bom two sons. The husband and the infant son, Cecil Me., have preceded her to that better land.In 1894 she was united in marriage to John Springer, who survives her.In addition to the husband, she is survived by one son, Herbert Veach; an adopted daughter, Mrs. Lucy MeCreary of Aurora, 111; a step-daughter Mrs. Maggie Hale of Brewersville, Ind; three step-grandchildren, Edith and Harold Hale of Brewersville and Mrs. Martha Schuyler of South Bend,Ind; one half-sister, Mrs. Julia Webb.She is the last of thirteen children.
