Groves, Well Known in Warren, Succumbs to Injuries Received in Big Drive.The sm of the death of Lieut d was received in Warren at about the wime time the telegramwar received from the War Depart-meat telling of the death of FredBfahaffey, with Company 1 in France.and It was a peculiar coincidence that these two beys were chums in their younger days and for several years they were loth members of a little military company and which called itself the “Liberty Boys.” Several other Gladerun boys who were members of this little, organization are now in France, but Lieut. Mead and Fred Mahaffey are the only two so far as known who have given their all for the cause of Liberty.Lieut. Head ib survived by hi» par-\acents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. J- Groves, of ConewangoThe Times circulation equals thatPlace, received a mesage yesterday df nit other Warren daily papers informing her that her nephew Lieut1!ILoon R. Mead, had died in France on November 4th from wounds received in action. The message did not give any particulars regarding the death of Lieut. Mead but it is known, that he was in the thick of the iightifig during the closing days of the war.Lieutenant Mead was a former i evident of Warren and lived in this city until 1908 when he moved to Williamsport with his parents. While in Warren he attended the* Glade schools and after going to Williamsport he attended the public schools of that city, later going to Gettysburg, where he took a course in the Pennsylvania college at that place.Just previous to his graduation lie entered the first officers training school at Fort Niagara and after completing his course he received a commission in the army as a second lieutenant. He was then transferred to Camp Green. S.
