Hawkins. aiIn the criminal action brought tjj against Ross Thompson, Lucelle ^ Whittemore and Henry Kruger the defendants had demanded separate trials and the case of the State vs. Ross Thompson was next called. It was proven that he and his mother K; and young Kruger went to the home M of a neighbor named Decker to get some stray calves which Decker had aj taken up; that a free for all fight en- j sued in which Decker was badly beat- I. on, and that Thompzon had struck him on the head with apiece of board, Ot one end of which had been whittled down to make a handle. It was shown that there \\ was considerable excitement during th the melee, Henry Kruger testifying th that he did not know whether he was tic afoot or on horseback.
