NELL PICKERELL’S PHOTO GRAPH WAS FOUND IN DEAD DESPERADOE'S POCKET The accompanying half-tone ta from a photograph of Nell Pickerell, the North Seattie girl who masque rades in male attire and for love of whom one girl has killed herself and another has attempted suicide. Ed ward Morse, better known as Black Jack,” one of the most notorious and desperate criminals of the west, is Nell's companion in the photo. He was shot and killed September 17, 1900, by Policeman Fred A. Ribbach, who was attempting to effect his capture. The photograph was found in his pocket, and lead to his identi fication. At the time the picture was taken Nell Pickerell, who prefers to be called Harry Linvingston, was act in as bartender in a North Seattle saloon and was living with Morne. Ribbach was given a gold medal for his brave conduct.
