â–¡INT, NORTH CAROLINA.GOVERNMENT PLACES MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT HERE Some time ago the'Southern Car Co. of this city put in a bid for manufacturing cars for the government to the extent of one million dollars with a probability of another mil- ] lion or more contract to fellow. Since j that time the factory was forced to close down and Messrs. J. El wood Cox and Col.Wescott Roberson have been engaged in winding up the business of the car plant However, j last week the government notified t the company that its bid for a $1,- f 000,000 contract had been accepted with perhaps a second million to f 1-low.
