W. ©. Brown, 83, well known ranchman of Kimble County, died in a Fredericksburg hospital May 18 after an illness of several days. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Paul S. Vandyke, pastor of the Kerrville Presbyterian Church, on the following day. Interment was made on the ranch of the de ceased. Active pall bearers were John Morris, W. H. Stevens, Mack Scar borough, Walton Whitworth, Milton Dyer, and John S. Whitewood, Jr. The community choir under the direction of C. J. Whitewood sang three songs at the home and at the grave: “What a Friend We Have In Jesus’, “Rock of Ages”, and “Sleep in Jesus”. Members of the choir included Mrs. A. C. Wendel, Mrs. O. Ruskey, Mrs. Roy Stevens, Mrs. A. L. Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Parker, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Oehler. Deceased was born on July 6, 1859, in DeWitt County, Texas, and for about 50 years he had engaged in the ranching business in Kimble County. About eight years ago he Continued on page four
