A double tragedy took place six miles south of Antler, Indian Territory, Saturday night. An Indian citizen named James Lowman west to Paris, Texas, Saturday, and left there drunk with a considerable quantity of whisky on reaching the Territory Armstead Homer, deputy sheriff, learned of it, and in com pany with Coleman Perry went to his house to take the liquor away from him, was authorized by the laws of the Territory. When they stepped on the gallery and called for Lowman they were fired on by him and his son with Winchester rifles. Both officers fell, riddled with bullets. Sheriff Baptiste was notified of the affair and arrested the Lowmans and now has them in custody. They claim that Homer and Perry had a grudge against them and made the whisky a pretext to go to their house and thot the officers fired the first shot.
