ELECTRIC FIRE AND CURFEW SIREN INSTALLEDCombination Whistle to be Controlled by Teiephor e Operators. The latest civ.c improvement in Plainfield is the combination fire alarm and curfew, an electric siren which was installed by the town board last week. It has been placed on the roof of the Symons building and will be controlled by ihe operators at the telephone exchange,It was originally intended to use it only for fire alarms, but the public demands for a curfew were so great .that it will be used for this purpose also. During the winter it will blow at S o’clock, and in tire summer at 9. It is the pur post of the town marshall, backed strongly by the town trustees, that the local curfew ordinance shall be carried out. The ordinance reads:Section 1. Be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the town of Plainfield, Indiana, That it shall be unlawful for any person under the age of fourteen yt ars to loiter, assemble, or remain upon the public streets of the toWn of Plainfield, Indiana, after the hour of 9 o’clock each evening during the months of May, June, July, August anf September, and S o'clock of each evening during the months of Octobe *, November, December, January, February, March and April. Provided, that this ordinance shall not apply • d any person under said age who may be accompanied by parent or legal guardian.Section 2. Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. This enforcement of the curfew is a movement in the right direction and it is hoped that the public in general and parents especially will assist in the enforcement; and co-operate in that they show their children that it is for their own ultimate good. The new arrangement will now make a twenty-four hour service fQr the fire alarm available.Copy for four c lub programs is now in the hands of he Messenger Printing Company, for the Woman’s Club and Friday Club, of Plainfield; the Crafton Home Economics Club, a country club, anc the Amo Home Eco- j nomics Club.
