SCANDIA HIGH NEiWSSENSOR CLASS OF S. H. S. - - 1937Woodrow Anderson.“Woody” will be missed in S. H. S. next year, especially in the athletic department-where he has held a prominent position, track ati'd-footbali being his “meat”. Woodrow “warbles” a little too, having taken glee clu'b for a couple of years. • And as for being grown up, didn’t he play “papa” in both the junior and senior plays? One of his offices of the year was vice president of the, “S” club.Max Bowersox.Steady and dependable one Can always find 1 “Bahok” planning a menu for a hike or helping serve at some athletic event. Max has been a reliable member of the Hi-Y club and also a member of the Hi-Y cabinet. He has had' experience in athletics and is a member of the “S” club. Glee club is another of his activities.iin concert mistress in orchestra and pianist in the glee clubs as well as a member of the girls’ glee club. Pep enough for the Phi Epsilon Phi is another of her features. This year G. R. claimed her as service chairman, but switched her to pianist because of a vacancy. Basketball and student council have also seen her serv-Florence Burge.Although Florence is one of these moving persons, she’s very steady in her grades, always staying in the A row. Her untiling efforts have won her a place on the county honor roll even though she has not lived here very long. Glee Chib, Girl Reserve, and basketball have also received “Flo’s” interest this year.Evelyn Hohman.“Ev” seems to have found glee club her favorite activity as she has diligently “stuck to it” all through high school. Evelyn gets around too as she found her way into both “Kicked Out of College” and “Mill of the Gods” playing all the way from, a sweet college girl to an exconvict secretary-companion. Aside from these, other of her activities have included track, G. R., G. R. cabinet, home ec. club, student council, and membership on the High News Staff...Loyd Jensen.“Jensen” goes for pold vaulting, and he’s been flying high this year (high enough to gain admittance to the “S” club). Loyd has also been the official recorder for the senior class this year. Other of his activities have included glee club, football, basketball, Hi-Y, and “Kicked Out of College”.a Scandia pep girl she .,has many times aided the pushing of the “Flying Swedes” over the goal line. As a glee club member, home economics club member and president, and in track, tennis, basketball, student council, and as a librarian, and member of both class plays this faithfulness and dependability has continued.Lenora Isaacson;Lenora, a student of the best caliber, enjoys music second to scholarships. She trumped on her trumpet in the orchestra four years and in the band. It was only in the last of this year that she found herself in sports, earning a letter.-..in tennis. “Ikey” was an important member of the Hi-News and Norseman staff, and never did she fail in her Girl Reserve duties.Vernon Everett.Even though “Everetts” has tried several sports, track ■ has evidently been his favorite as he has always stuck to it. His frankness in expression of • his own opinion has maintained a position on student council for him several times. Glee club an.d Hi-Y have also been included in“ his activities during the past four years. Last year Vernon shuffled through “Kicked Out of College” aS\a colored butler.Mae Sothers.A pep girl that always was, is Mae, for she started as a freshman and hasn’t lost her pep yet. Girl Reserve and Girl Reserve cabinet have taken up a great deal of her time too. To say nothing of tennis, glee club, orchestra, track, “S” club, student council, home economics clu'b, and “Kicked Out of College”.Jack Reece.Jack seems to have taken Hi-Y tennis, glee club, and basketball most seriously of his activities. Perhaps not seriously because Jack just almost can’t be serious. 1 But anyway, they’ve been steadier than footbfifil, track, student council, “S” club, or any of his other extra-curriculars. .Vera Flesher.“Snipper” on the basketball court, but she’s just “Vera” the most of the time. She certainly is at home on the basketball floor. Of course there was a place for her on the allcounty tournament team this year. She -also goes out for track. Aside from her basketball, track, and tennis, she’s a peppy popster, a librarian, student council member, “S” club member, and county honor roll student.Lucille McDowell.“Lucy” spent her freshman year in Republic High School but lately she’s been “going to Scandia”. First as a pep club member, and this year as cheer leader she’s been behind the “Swedes,” boosting them. Lucille has also helped boost Scandia in glee club, track, tennis, student council, “S” club, G. R., county honor roll, and “Kicked Out of College.”June Freed.“Freed” simply goes for journalism. She’s going to be a journalist “when she grows up.” But as for that she’ll probably land in Hollywood. You know she played the “sweet young thing” in “Mill of the Gods.” Glee club has also found her very useful. June has had the following activities: basketball, G. R., G. R. cabinet, student council, track, and county honor roll.--Mildred Johnson,Perhaps Mildred Agnes Caroline should be rechristened “Madame President” or something of the like for she’s president of both the Girl Reserve and Pep club aside from her many other activities. Being editor of the Norseman and assistant editor of the High News are no small jobs either. Glee club, basketball, orchestra, librarian, student council, declamation, tennis, and both class plays are some of Mildred’s numerous activities.Robert Cahill.“Bob” or “Casey” whichever you prefer has placed his name on the athletic records of Scandia High all the years he has been here. He went out for glee club some too, but it is evident that he lives on sports. “Casey” rated a position in the play, “Jimmy, Be Careful,” and has also been in the “S” club this year.Mavis Freed.Mavis tried Colorado, but had to come back to good old Kansas to finish her last three years of school. She has shown unusual ability in music of all types, having been vio-Jimmie Larsen.James Otto won’t be forgotten soon in S. H. S. for after tripping through “Kicked Out of College” as a sweet golden-haired “young thing” he turned right around and slipped through “Mill of the Gods” as Lawrence, the raven-haired villain. And, of course, that’s not all. Glee *c1ub, track, county honor roll, football, Hi-Y, tennis, assistant editor of the Norseman, and being the first president of the student council and “S” club are numbered among “Jim’s” many conquests.John Nylund.“Captain Johnnie” of the football team has been in and pushing athletics 100% all during his high school, He’s a “great g’uy” for glee club too. Being president of his class two different years besides being a member of the casts of both class plays speaks v,rell for John. Hi-Y, Hi-Y cabinet, student council, and “S” club have also claimed him.Don Thomas.Don entered from Kackley in his third year. Since then he seems to have lived on sports with basketball heading his list and football and track vieing for second place. Besides being a member of the “S club, Don was elected cheer leader this year. Glee club, “Kicked Out of College,” and his duties as vice president of the senior class have received his interests also.Andy Thompson.Steady “Andrews” can always be depended on to take his time even at meal time. His steadiness in Hi-Y qualified him for a job on the cabinet- which he has efficiently fulfilled. Andy’s other interests have been di vided among basketball; track, glee club, football, and Kicked Out of College”.Loyaldean Ward. Now Loyaldean’s a little lad,So mild and meak and coy.He acts more like a freshman Than he does a junior boy.Last year Mildred wrote this and included in a longer poem about the junior boys. It still -describes '“Skinny” as many people know him. He extended a service by acting as one of the stage managers for the senior class play. Ifi-Y has been among “Skinny’s” activities.Leora Loring. This year Leora has faithfully guarded the treasures of the Girl Reserve club, which accounts for the wealth of the G, R’s. In the role ofBill Reece.“Bill” is a four year man in practically all his activities. Sticking to it is what gets you places, you know. Aside from being editor of the High News, tennis, glee club, track, football, basketball, student council, Hi-Y, Hi-Y cabinet, county honor, roll,
