Centennial(EDITOR’S NOTE: An interesting addition to Windfall's Centennial history would be the tracing of family trees. Submitted to us this week were several such histories, written by fourth and fifth grade students at Windfall School).The Clouser Family By Jimmy Clouser tirade 4♦ * + *My grandfather, Leo Clouser, gave me the history ofhis amily -in the community of Windfall.He was born March 10, 1894, one of the sons of Ben and Sadia Bell (Mitchell) Clouser. He had three brothers. and one sister.. His father and mother started housekeeping two-and-one half .miles north • and one-and one-fourth mile east of Windfall, then moved in a section one-mile east of Windfall.He attended eight years of 3 school, which was located two-and-one-half miles east of the town. The site of the old school house has been made into a home where Mr; and Mrs. Ray Legg now live.Grandpa Leo remembers the' old mud roads, a few log cabins and quite a few changes in.the town of Windfall itself.By being a farmer, which he and his ancestors were, as far back as he can remember, he. didn't get to Windfall too often.My grandfather and grandmother were married in 1915 and are the parents of 13 children. They have lived in this community (except for 18 years which were spent in Randolph County). They went to Randolph County by horse and wagon and returned to Tipton County the same way.All 13 children attended and graduated from Windfall High School. Seven of their eight boys served in the armed forces, went overseas, and all returned safe.Grandpa served as trustee of Wildcat Township for six years,, served on the A.A.A. for nine years, and has been a member of the Methodist Church for 47 years. He also is :a member of the Masonic Lodge and was one of the first members of .the Lions C(ub. My grandparents have 43 grand-Continued on Page 2
