Last Saturday proved to be a real Spring Opening day for Kingman. The combination sale was the largest ever held here, and its success was largely due to the efforts of Col. HL. A. Clingan and Logan Dillon who managed the sale. The sale be gan about 10:30 and continued until late in the afternoon. The articles offered sold fairly well, everyone seeming pleased. Col Clingan showed that he was an old hand at auctioneering busi ness by the way he disposed of the various articles. The crowd was large but was orderly, and seemed interested in the affairs of the day. The streets were lined on either side with various kinds of articles to be sold, which presented the appearance of a real sale to a passerby. The giv ing away of the five passenger Ford automobile by Charles Zackmire was held until last, but the excitement and anxiety did not last long, for Massey Prenty of Covington held the lucky number. Col. Clingan stated to The Star on Monday that he intend ed to make these sales a regular Saturday afternoon feature. This will afford a splendid op portunity for you to dispose of any article you don’'t need just bring it to Kingman some Satur day afternoon and Col. Clingan will get every dollar it is worth for you. There bloomed forth at this sale a new star in the profession of auctioneering in the person of H.A Clingan. Though this was his first public appearance in Kingman, he is not a novice in the profession, having followed the business in his home state for several years before coming to our town. Combination sales are hard on auctioneers because of the var ious articles offered to the public Mr. Clingan proved himself mas ter of this class of work and at once jumped into popularity with the public by his genial manner and courteous treatment accorded to all.
