We are in receipt of a letter from Albert Horst who is now on duty in the last line of trenches some where in France. The letter states in part: ~ ‘We left Havre «a few days ago. There sure is some wet weather and mud there. Our bunch was split up when we got off the traina for the last time, J. Crow and the most of the bandenen are with: let. C.M.R's and a few of us, or the remainder of the bandemen, are with the Sth. M. it's. We might have been all together if we had known about it at the Canandian Depot at Havre. I don’t think the bunch that Crow is in is any more than three miles from here, al though I am not certain. We went out the other night with a working party and one of our men was wounded by a German sniper, I was shout ten feet away from bin at the time. Aircraft are as plenti ful around here as crews in Canada, Sidney Bowen-Smith did not come with us, he is still in England.’ Albert Horst's address is: No. 114164, A Company, Sth Battalion C.M.R's., Sth Infantry Brigade, 3rd Canadian Division, FRANCE.
