Taylor, a minister of the Disciples* Church, died at his home, near Marks-vilie, yesterday evening ot pneumonia. He wat about eighty-eight years ot age and leaves a larg^ family of children. | Mr. Taylor was a preacher of consider-i able ability. During the war he was a strong In ion man. on account of which sentiment he made many enemies, hut always* had the courage to maintain his views at all hazards and from which hr had many personal encounters. Soon after the war he entered politics and wasseveral times a candidate for the legislature. conducting aggressive, fearless campaigns, but always being d* feate i.Rev. Dr. Wharton, the cvang. list. is preparing to build a cottage at the “Whosoever Farm.” near Luray, in memory of Miss Winnie Davis, the “Daughter of theConfederacy,” which is to cost fc,000, andwhich will contain photographs, painting*, and rtlies of the South, with the name ofevery contributor. The building is for the orphans of Confederate soldiers* Mrs. • JeflVrson Davis has written Dr. Wharton a. letter, in w hich she says: “I accord permission to name the t’untederaie ullageafter my child with pride and pleasure.”
