Child’s Play, a program designed to develop the large and small motor skills in children ages 1-4, is being offered for six week sessions at St. John the Baptist School on Saturday mornings. Tina Perrotta, founder of the program, explained that a combination of physical and mental exercises prom otes receptivity and enthus iasm in children and creates a strong foundation of good learning habits. Using a variety of items found in the home, ‘Perrotta has develop board, etc. During group activities, the children exper ience textures of a variety of food objects which can also encourage communication as they discuss the activity. Perrotta, a mother of four children, who studied ele mentary education and dance at the University of Cincin nati, began the program several years ago to help one of her children who lacked motor coordination skills. At that time, she discovered D for this need were not available. Just as neces sity is the mother invention, Perrotta developed the answer to her need and wrote the book on meat of 125 students. The popularity of the program has led to the establishment of programs in White Oak, Cheviot, and Western Hills. The Harrison location began its first session in January and class enrollment has doubled for the second ses sion. Carol Skillback will serve as the instructor for the session scheduled to begin March 8. She will be follow ing lesson plans prepared by Perrotta and has worked with the current Child’s Play pro gram at St. John’s. She is a teacher in a Lawrenceburg elementary school Classes for children ages 1-2 will be held on Saturdays from 10-10:30 and ages 3-4 from 10:30-11:15.
